The Ministry of Education (MOE) in Singapore has announced the commencement of Primary 1 registration for admission to schools in 2024 on 23rd May. In an effort to streamline the process and provide better support to parents, the MOE has introduced a new online registration portal. Primary 1 Registration Portal and Singpass for Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents

The Primary 1 Registration Portal will go live on July 4, providing parents with access to the registration process. To log in to the portal, parents need a valid Singpass with 2-Factor Authentication (2FA). It is recommended to set up the Singpass 2FA early and ensure that the Singpass account is valid before the registration exercise begins. Only one parent is required to log in and submit the registration through the portal. 

New Online Registration Portal in 2024

This year, a user-friendly online registration portal for all five phases of the exercise has been introduced, replacing the previous application form and Primary 1 Internet System. The new portal allows parents to register their child in their chosen school for all five phases of the exercise. It simplifies the registration process and enhances convenience for parents. 

Parents who require assistance during registration may contact the school of their choice via email or telephone between 9am to 4.30pm on the respective registration days. The registration process will close on October 31. 

P1 Registration Exercise Phases and Eligibility

Parents of children born between January 2, 2017, and January 1, 2018 (both dates inclusive), are required to participate in the Junior 1 or Primary 1 registration exercise for a programme of a SPED school. The registration process is divided into five phases: Phases 1, 2A, 2B, 2C, and 2C Supplementary. Parents can refer to the MOE website; Primary 1 registration | MOE to determine the phase and schools their child is eligible to register in. 

Registration Phases and Important Dates: 

Phase 1: 

Registration: July 4 to July 5 

Eligibility: Siblings currently studying at the school 

Results Release: July 11 

Phase 2A: 

Registration: July 12 to July 14 

Eligibility: Parent or sibling who is a former student of the primary school, or parent who is a member of the school advisory or management committee. Children from MOE kindergartens under the school’s purview are also eligible. 

Results Release: July 21 

Phase 2B: 

Registration: July 24 to July 25 

Eligibility: School volunteers, active community leaders, members of the church or clan affiliated with the school 

Results Release: July 31 

Reservation: MOE reserves 20 spaces in each primary school for this phase. 

Phase 2C: 

Registration: August 1 to August 3 

Eligibility: Children not registered in earlier phases 

Results Release: August 15 

Reservation: MOE reserves 40 spaces in each primary school for this phase. 

Phase 2C Supplementary: 

Registration: August 17 to August 18 

Eligibility: Children not yet registered after Phase 2C 

Results Release: August 29
