Course Description
- This course is a comprehensive study of the physical processes that shape the Earth’s surface, including weathering, erosion, tectonic activity, biomes and ecosystems, and natural hazards.
- The curriculum will cover the different types of weathering, such as physical, chemical, and biological weathering, and how they work to break down rock and soil.
- Students will also learn about erosion, including how water, wind, and ice can move soil and rock across the Earth’s surface.
- The course will also cover tectonic activity, including plate tectonics, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions, and how they shape the Earth’s surface.
- Additionally, students will explore the different biomes and ecosystems that exist on Earth, and how they are influenced by climate, topography, and other environmental factors.
- The course will also cover the various natural hazards that can affect the Earth’s surface, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, and volcanic eruptions, and how they can cause damage to communities and infrastructure.
- An important aspect of the course is to explore how humans can prepare for and mitigate the impacts of natural hazards.
- Students will learn about hazard assessment, risk management, and emergency planning, and how they can be used to reduce the impact of natural hazards on human populations.
- The course will also cover the importance of environmental management and conservation in preserving and protecting the Earth’s surface.
